Confidentiality
Helping Hands Care Homes Limited has a strict policy for handling client information. The information you provide to us is confidential and protected to the fullest extent possible. We will not disclose or distribute any information to third parties without prior written consent by the client/relative/advocate.
We believe that openness in the dissemination of information and decision-making should be the norm in the Company. However, we respect the confidentiality of the information to which we have access and we will not use it for personal gain or pass it on to others who might use it in this way.
We do not tell anyone inside or outside the Company who is not entitled to know for the purposes of their job, what goes on at Company staff and management meetings held in private, nor about the contents of Company documents which are confidential.
Data Protection
Helping Hands Care Homes Limited is registered under the Data Protection Act 1988, registration number Z9955378.
The Data Protection Acts give people certain rights and gives the Company responsibilities for personal information. These responsibilities relate to:
Getting information fairly
Registering new uses of the information
Making sure there are enough details but not too many, and that details are accurate, up to date and not kept for longer than necessary
Allowing people whose details the Company holds access to their files and the right to correct or delete incorrect information; and
Security measures to protect personal information.
The legislation not only provides for data held on computer systems, but also that held on 'relevant filing systems' such as manual filing systems.
Both individual staff members and the Company may be prosecuted if there is a breach of this law. We treat this area very seriously and if any person suspects there is a problem or you need advice please consult the Care Home Manager.
We do not give confidential information about our service users to anyone unless they need it to help the service user or prevent serious harm to the service user or others. Wherever possible we get the service user’s permission before giving information about them to others.
